Prompt: Think about a time when someone challenged your opinion or told you that you were wrong. What was the disagreement about, and how did you defend yourself? Did you change their mind, or did they change yours?
Prompt Response: A time when someone challenged my opinion was when I was talking about the best place to visit for vacation. I was talking with a few of my friends from my ELA class last year about the best vacation spot, and I said Wyoming. However, my other friends disagreed. One of my friends said that Italy is the best spot for vacation, and my other friend said that Japan is the best vacation spot. I defended my argument by explaining the natural beauty that Wyoming has, including its famous Yellowstone National Park. I also included the various types of wildlife and scenic views you get to experience. Lastly, I listed the great weather and outdoor experiences. I partially changed my friends' minds; they still were dead set on their best vacation spot, but I got them to at least appreciate and understand why I think Wyoming is a great vacation spot, and they did the same to me for Italy and Japan.
Summary: Today in class, we did another vocabulary exercise & assignment that was due at the end of class for a grade. We did exercises one, three, and four. We also had to take notes on each vocabulary word (15) to help us prepare for our Vocabulary test that we will be taking very soon.
Reflection: This lesson prepared me and helped me expand my vocabulary and, most importantly, be ready and well prepared for our upcoming vocabulary test.
