Prompt: Think of a fictional character, celebrity, or historical figure you can relate to. Creat an allusion that connects your personality or experiences to that person. Explain why you chose that reference.
Prompt Response: I believe a fictional character that I can relate to would be Pippin "Peregrin Took." Pippin starts off in The Lord of the Rings novel as immature and childish, but as the novel goes on, he takes care of his responsibilities and grows as a person. I believe I can relate to Pippin's immature and playful character, as I do agree that at the start, I will admit I can be immature and childish. I feel that as time goes on, I do become a more mature and responsible person, just like Pippin. Pippin also loves to eat, and I consider myself the Joey Chestnut when it comes to eating food; I love food and inhale it. Pippin also has a funny, outgoing character, which I feel I can also relate to. I love to socialize and make people laugh, just like Pippin.
Summary: Tuesday in class, we practiced placing words in a positive, negative, or neutral category. As a class, we practiced that many times before moving on to a worksheet where we would soon be analyzing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's. "I Have a Dream" speech. Before that, we filled out the rhetorical situation page and called it a day.
Reflection: I feel that after this lesson I can confidently place words in their proper category, whether it is a positive, negative, or neutral word that people view it as. I also feel I learned a lot about the beginning stages of analyzing a text, which I am sure will help me in the future on assignments, quizzes, and tests.
