Prompt: "We spend more time connecting online but less time connecting in person." Do you agree or disagree with these antithesis? Explain your perspective using personal experiences. Discuss how technology has influenced the way people communicate and build relationships. In your response, include at least one original example of antithesis.
Prompt Response: I disagree with this antithesis. I agree that I frequently connect with my friends online, but I use that to schedule plans to hang out. I hang out with my friends in person at least once every month, sometimes more, and that is because of connecting online and school. I also think that school counts as connecting in person since I am there with my friends five times every week. I think technology has influenced the way people communicate and build relationships negatively. I think it builds relationships and friendships, but using technology to connect all the time damages your social skills and connecting with others outside of a screen.
Summary: Today in class we took more notes on questioning and rhetorical devices. We primarily focused today on questioning devices. We then answered practice questions on a sheet of notebook paper, which we will then turn in tomorrow to Mr. Rease for a grade.
Reflection: This lesson today helped me understand the use of questioning and rhetorical devices. I feel the practice problems helped me understand the topic more and feel more comfortable doing questions like this. I feel that after this lesson, I can confidently answer and use rhetorical devices and questioning devices on future assignments, tests, and quizzes.
